"Hold on! What's that twinkle in your eye? Do you know something we don't!?"
Eleven is a major celebrity in his world to the point that his hometown, Cobblestone, is quickly becoming a tourist attraction. People from all over Erdrea want to know more about the Luminary who saved their world from a dark god.
To Erdrea he is courageous, strong, honorable and a living legend; the exact sort of person one would expect to become a savior. Eleven himself would be the first person to point out that the general population paints, perhaps, too favorable a picture of him. Anyone seeing him as a flawless light being is someone who has never really seen him at all. Despite his reputation, he can be a bit of a scoundrel at times. The part of him that painted eyebrows on his best friend's dog as a child did not magically vanish with age. He still enjoys harmless mischief and sometimes refuses to do things at first just to see the looks on people's faces. Of course, he always agrees immediately after to put people at ease again. It's reached a point where sometimes his companions almost expect him to mess with them at first responding to his shakes of the head with "Very funny". He also gambles a bit more than strictly necessary and he enjoys fooling around with Puff-Puff girls (women who ritualistically press their breasts against people, yes, it's a thing in Dragon Quest) despite the fact that things with them almost never went the way he expects them to. The mischievousness also leads into a playful streak. He is not opposed to putting on feathered outfits and leading a parade while dancing. It's fun! Any new experience is full of wonder for him.
At times, Eleven's lust for life can cause him to come across as a wide-eyed Pollyanna. He does genuinely love adventure and he smiles a lot. A monster living in the fields of Heliodor even once fell in love with him on sight because he paused a moment to smile at her. He also often talks about hope, it's a topic that is usually on his mind since he has to act as hope incarnate to his people. Beneath this, however, he's developed more realistic views on things than one might expect. During his adventures he's met broken people in broken places and has come to learn that pain is widespread. Happiness to him doesn't mean elimination of pain (light cannot shine without darkness), it means being able to feel joy in the daily wonder of life.
That doesn't mean he leaves people in pain if he can help it. Whenever he finds someone in need he reaches out to them. His travels have taught him how to recognize people who are trapped in bad situations and differentiate them from those who are bad at heart. Even the wicked he can eventually learn to at least tolerate because he is always forgiving. Forgiveness still has to be earned, however, and even if someone is forgiven for a crime Eleven may not ever learn to actually like them.
His desire to help everyone comes before any instinct to take care of himself."You should stop worrying about other people just for once and think about what's best for you."
Joy and wonderment, while important, are not always easy for him. Even during a party he might quietly get up and leave while people are distracted so that he can return to his more somber "hero" work. Because he has to be the Luminary, savior of Erdrea, he tries his best to be the man people expect him to be and this can lead him into trouble and get him twisted up in his own confused emotions. He doesn't tend to express his feelings well if they happen to be negative. If he's in pain he suffers in silence. If he is trapped in a situation where he has to cry he'll turn away from anyone he's with so they can't see his tears. If he happens to know something others don't he'll keep it to himself so as not to upset anyone, even if the wiser move would be to warn people. This tendency causes him to come across as a "strong, silent" type to some. Really the silence sometimes means he's not sure what to do or say so he doesn't say anything. Unfortunately, Eleven is not particularly cunning or wise. It is not hard to confuse him or lead him astray or trick him into exposing himself somehow and since he doesn't like to let people in on what he's feeling, his friends may not know to step in and help until things have already gone from bad to worse.
